Using With / Without teammate context
Compare whole-game player production when a selected teammate appeared versus games where that teammate did not appear.

What you are trying to answer
Use teammate availability as historical context without misreading it as possession-based on/off analysis or causal impact.
How to use it
Set the sample
Choose sample window, venue and minimum number of qualifying games required on each side.
Read With and Without
With includes games where both players appeared; Without includes games where the selected player appeared and the teammate did not.
Read the delta
The displayed change is Without average minus With average for the same metric.
Inspect the games
Check the actual opponents, venues, injuries and role changes before attributing the difference to the teammate.
Worked example
Worked example: a With / Without delta is not a causal effect
A player averages 14.2 points in 12 games With a teammate and 18.0 points in 5 games Without that teammate. StatMindX shows a +3.8-point delta.

The +3.8 delta is 18.0 Without minus 14.2 With.

The split is based on whole-game availability, not possessions where the two players were literally on or off the court together.

The two sides are also unbalanced: 12 With games versus only 5 Without games.

Check whether minutes, starting role, opponents, venue or injuries changed in the Without games before attributing the difference to the teammate.
Takeaway
The split identifies an association worth investigating. It does not estimate the teammate’s causal impact on the selected player.
